[G-Apps][GUIDE] Google Apps on the Kindle Fire -Getting Around the Update 11/30

There was a silent update pushed by Amazon that breaks market.
Don't Panic!
Fixing it is a breeze if you've already done it once. Just re-follow these instructions to get your market back up and working. Once again, Props go to Bandage for writing these easy to understand and follow instructions.

Prerequisites

Root your Kindle Fire

Download the following apks
GoogleServicesFramework.apk
Vending.apk (Latest Version 3.3.11)
See HERE for .apk downloads (complete GApps zip file)

Root Explorer App (or similar that lets you change ro/rw permissions)

Side Loading Apps activated on Kindle Fire
On the Kindle Fire Settings screen, go to “Device” and turn On “Allow Installation of Application From Unknown Sources”

Instructions

1. Transfer the .apk files to your Kindle Fire via PC / Mac (remember where you put them)

2. Open Root Explorer App, and navigate to the transferred .apk files

3. Select the GoogleServiceFramework.apk and install

4. When complete, click "Done" and return to the file location for Vending.apk

5. Long-press Vending.apk and select the "Move" option on pop-up menu
Navigate to /system/app folder

6. Change mount option from RO to RW (read-only to read-write)
Paste Vending.apk into the /system/app folder

7. Long-press Vending.apk and select "Permissions" from pop-up menu
Change permissions to match all other apps in this folder (rw-r--r--)

8. Install Vending.apk

9. Reboot your Kindle Fire

Once reboot is complete, select Market App and log-in as usual.
Enjoy!

You will most likely notice some familiar apps missing from the market, as this device is lacking certain hardware specifications. However, once custom ROMs start appearing for the Kindle Fire, it is a safe bet it will no longer be the case.

Also, the Market App will not show up in the default Amazon Launcher.
You will need to install an alternate launcher (ie Go Launcher EX, ADW).
Find instructions HERE.
For another option than installing an alternate option, check out this work around also!

How do I root the Samsung Galaxy W (I8150) ?

Hello,
due to the fact that there is no subforum for the Samsung Galaxy W(I8150) and the fact that I searched for almost a week to find an possibility to root my device I finally ask you guys: Is there a possibility to root my Galaxy Wonder ?
I have searched the net and the only website which contained maybe useful files was this one:http://androidadvices.com/update-sam...ski3-firmware/Marked in a red box, rooting is only mentioned generally once in the entire article. Is Gingerbread 2.3.5 ZSKI3 a rooted version or something like that ? Else I don't get the point why they are talking about an update, because the Galaxy Wonder has from stock Gingerbread 2.3.5.
What I have tried is:Superoneclick 2.1.1 = FAILED(stuck on #6)Gingerbreak 1.60 = FAILED
hope someone can help me.

Download the latest revolutionary from here, and follow the insturctions, that are written in first post, you will also need Superuser and su file. Or you can download all the needed file from my dropbox here. Now the instructions.

1. You need to download android sdk and install (use google to find it)
2. Extract files from my rar to folder platform-tools (it is inside andorid-sdk)
3.Open command prompt (Run as Administrator)
4.go to .../android-sdk/platoform-tools (find the right path)
5.
Code:
adb push zergRush_samsung_w /data/local/
adb shell
(you are now in a shell, $ is already written, type just text)
$ chmod 755 /data/local/zergRush_samsung_w
$ chmod zergRush_samsung_w
6.wait until is finished
If root was successful last two lines shoud be:

[+] Rush did it ! It's a GG, man !
[+] Killing ADB and restarting as root..enjoy!

7.
Code:
$ exit
adb remount
adb push Superuser.apk /system/app/
adb push su /system/bin/
adb shell
(you are now in a shell, $ is already written, type just text)
$ chmod 644 /system/app/Superuser.apk
$ chmod 4755 /system/bin/su
$ reboot
8. You are now succesfully rooted, just go on Market, and update Superuser.apk, then open Superuser from aplication menu, and update su (this is binary file). For full root experiance install Busybox.

Good luck!

And don't forget to thanks team Revolutionary and user Ch4lky!!!
Oh one more thing, go here and put a request fo Samsung Galaxy W i8150 forum section on xda, and tell every one with this phone to do the same !!! PLEASE

You can root Android 2.2 with:

SuperOneClick

v2.1.1 is up!

Driver pack comes later!

---

I made it. I tested it. It works. You can get it from shortfuse.org or use the links below (if you're a registered XDA member).

Here's a one-click root with almost all phones and all android versions. (including the i9000, Droid, Nexus One, etc)

YOU CAN ROOT ALMOST ALL ANDROID PHONES!

The program requires Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0+ or Mono v1.2.6+
Operations systems with native support:
  • Windows Vista
  • Windows 7
  • Ubuntu Hardy (8.04 LTS)
  • Ubuntu Jaunty (9.04)
  • Ubuntu Karmic (9.10)
  • Ubuntu Lucid (10.04 LTS)
  • Ubuntu Maverick (10.10)
  • Debian Lenny (5.0)
  • Debian Squeeze (testing)
  • Debian Sid (unstable)
  • Debian Experimental

If you run Microsoft Windows XP, install .NET Framework v2.0 or above
If you run Mac or another Linux flavor, make sure you install Mono:
http://www.go-mono.com/mono-downloads/download.html

For more information about making it work in linux:
See here

You NEED to put your phone on USB Debugging mode
You NEED to install make sure the Android drivers for your phone are installed
Make sure you DO NOT mount your SD card.
If you still can't get something to run, try doing it in recovery mode.

2/24/2011:
I registered my website shortfuse.org so you can grab SuperOneClick from there now.

2/22/2011:

Great news. -1Day roots AT&T Motorola Atrix4G!!! YAY!

11/29/2010:

I'm sorry I haven't been updating lately!!! The problem is, I no longer have an Android phone and I can't play around or test anymore. I'm going to see if I can find one on craiglist or ebay.

11/10/2010:
I finally figured out how to root without looping. After rooting 13 phones, this is how I did it on the first try.

Turn USB Debugging OFF

Click Root

When it says: Waiting for Device, Turn USB Debugging ON

It'll now run RATC

When it says: Starting ADB Server...
Turn USB Debugging OFF
Turn USB Debugging ON
Turn USB Debugging OFF
All BEFORE it says "Waiting for device..." again

11/1/2010:
Hey guys! I'm sorry I haven't been able to respond to lots of posts. I've been really busy lately with work. I've been reading some posts and I've made some changes in v1.5.2

Let me know what bugs and issues you guys have.

10/17/2010:
Thanks to all that donated! I was worried for a bit but you guys proved me wrong. So, I fixed the NMA (non market apps) button. It should now install sqlite3 and busybox into a temporary folder if you don't have it. I added an unroot (by popular demand). I did some major code clean up, so you can expect faster releases from here on out. Next version will add sqlite3 and busybox to the /system partition included in root.

If you're having issues with "wait for device" or if RATC is looping, try this
Unplug your USB Cable
Go to Settings > Applications > Development
Uncheck USB Debugging
Plug in your USB Cable
Unplug your USB Cable
Check USB Debugging
Plug in your USB Cable

10/13/2010:
I need people with issues to post their device model and if they tried rooting in recovery mode. All posts ignoring the read me will be ignored. (meaning nma complaints and those NAND locked devices).
I'm getting flooded with replies, PMs and emails. Seriously, try reading a few posts back.
The program has been downloaded over 5000 times and only 2 people have have donated. I see donations as signs of gratitude. Even if it's 25 cents, please donate.
When I find the time (and will) I will work on the v1.5 release.
The rageagainstthecage looping is by design. Bad usb cables and ports can cause ratc to not run properly so I have it loop until it works. The "waiting for device" hang is for the same reason. There's nothing wrong with my application. It's usually your usb cable or port. This is not a cop-out answer. This is not an excuse as if I didn't know why it happens. This has been investigated and the problem is USB connectivity. It happens with my Captivate as well.

10/11/2010:
Enabling market apps isn't working unless you have busybox installed. I plan to fix this in the next version. The problem is, different devices have different locations for the com.provider.android.settings/settings.db and I was using the 'find' command to find your settings.db location. I didn't realize this was a busybox command not internal. That will be fixed.

I also added some information about root that I think people should read and classified different root levels.

By classifying root levels, I make it easier for the users to know if certain options will work or not. For example, enabling non-market apps will only require a Level 1 root, meaning it will work with the HTC Aria

[SCRIPT][26.10.2011] The Best RAM Optimization - BIG UPDATE! NEW APP!

MORE SMOOTHNESS, MORE SPEED, LESS LAGS
AND
ENOUGH FREE MEMORY

NOW YOU CAN DO IT WITH MY NEW APPLICATION WHICH INCLUDES MORE OPTIONS AND MORE FEATURES. CLICK HERE.

Requirements: Root, Kernel which supports init.d

Hi guys,
after long time of testing I found the best balance for RAM, this script will make your RAM to the best optimization, the best optimization means the best balance between free memory, multitask, speed of launching apps and system speed. It means that you'll still have enough free memory (you'll have free memory as much as you need, because it is not good if you have really a lot of free memory, because Android's work with memory is different to other OS) and you can fully use your multitask, my script doesn't kill your app automatically when you minimize it. Your system and switching between apps or launching apps will be very fast.

Now you don't have to use Task Killer!

EXPLANATION

Lowmemorykiller
-Values which mainly affect your multitask and free memory. Values of my script were made for the best combination of using multitask and still having enough free memory.

VM (Virtual Machine)
-Values which mainly affect your file cache and system memory. With my VM values you can achieve better battery consumption, system speed and speed of launching apps.

OOM_ADJ
-Value of every process which gives the kernel a hint, which process it can kill in an OOM (out of memory) situation.

Update (19.9.2011)

Updated VM and LMK values - Thanks to [KaliS] for VM values

Update (18.8.2011)

Added OOM_ADJ values

Update (13.8.2011)

Reworked VM values - Thanks to [KaliS] for help

Video Review (Galaxy S) - Thanks to totallydubbed

Video Review (Galaxy) - Thanks to waqasshahzad1986

INSTALLATION

1) Download attached file (Juwe_Update-19092011_RAM_Script.zip) unzip S97ramscript and put it to /system/etc/init.d with Root Explorer (if you don't have init.d folder, so create new folder and name it to init.d) and set perms of S97ramscript to 777 (rwxrwxrwx)

2) If you have in your init.d folder other script for RAM management (for example Darky's rambooster), so delete it

3) Reboot your phone

ROM devs can use my script in their ROMs, but give the proper credit.

!!!WARNING!!!
INSTALL IT ON YOUR OWN RISK.
